Progesterone Talk Q and A Live!

Picture
I am so excited to see some information straight from a doctor's mouth about Progessence Plus... the information below is from Heather Hanford Isaac Gold Leader at Young Living Essential Oils in a group that I belong to.

"Dr. Dan Purser, the co-creator of Progessence Plus, did a FB Live vid last night that I feel many people will find beneficial. I met him at Monique McClean's Thrive conference awhile back, standing in line for hours for 5 minutes with him. That's how much I trust him!

Because he is a doctor, he is allowed to talk about conditions...though we can NOT! I do not have answers to your questions and we have to delete condition names, so if you have questions please contact Dr. Dan or grab his free books, etc. Some people even pay to have phone consultations with him to figure out hormone issues. (He lives in Utah.)

This video touches on: natural progesterone vs. synthetic, how Progessence Plus does not contain yam molecules (it is made from wild yam, but converts to something else) & can be used by those with estrogen dominance/certain conditions, menopause & things that go along with that, several women conditions, birth control & what he considers the "healthiest" & what he recommends staying away from, the MTHFR gene and how those who have it can be vitamin-deficient and how birth control can affect them, etc. It is long, but he answers many questions!"

Essential Oils & Animals

When I first started using oils I was introduced to Young Living first. People told me they were the best but I wanted to try others to compare. So I bought off Amazon and at the grocery store and tried them. As a newbie I noticed the difference. In scent, and in the fact that they didn’t work. Then I read more about seed to seal which is YLs purity guarantee. I encourage you to visit www.seedtoseal.com to learn more about it. The graphics below give a quick overview. I use my YL oils every single day on myself, my husband, my daughter uses them on my granddaughter, in my house, around my dogs and personally know individuals who have for years. I trust these products way more than the artificial stuff on the store shelves. Young Living confidently offers lines of oils specifically designed for pets and children!
Facebook has erupted with tons of concerned pet owners all because of one person who purchased their oils from Amazon and their cat got sick.  I have no doubt your cat got sick and I am surprised this pet owner did not as well.
If you've taken the time to compare YL oils to any other brand, they are very different. The smell alone will confirm it, but YL does lots of expensive and thorough testing on all of their oils to ensure they are free from synthetics, and are the highest therapeutic value possible. YL has a Seed to Seal promise, and it’s the basis of everything the company stands for.
Most, if not all, of the oils sold on Amazon and in any other store contain synthetics, which are harmful to both people and animals. That’s why I choose to use YL oils and products - to avoid the harmful things that are hidden in the products we commonly purchase. The post also stated that the use of scented candles are used in the home. Fragrance has been shown to be toxic to humans and animals, and unless you’re reading labels, your home is probably filled with it. This is why I have chosen to eliminate scented candles and oil burners such as glade plugins and other toxic products in my home.
Although I do not have cats currently, I know plenty of families who use YL oils who do and have no issues at all with their animals health. Animals are definitely more sensitive to essential oils and when using essential oils with animals you MUST dilute properly, do your research on oils that are safe for animals and above all use common sense.
My dogs are surrounded by essential oils daily and I have applied topically to my dogs with no adverse reactions. I feel perfectly safe diffusing YOUNG LIVING oils around my animals and family and my grandchildren. I trust Young Living oils and know they are safe and beneficial for my family. I urge you to do your own research and do what feels right for you!
For more information, please find a trusted reference guide. There are great Animal specific reference guides out there. Just be careful Googling, because there is a lot of misinformation on the internet. Anyone can write an article and pass it off as fact.

What's under your sink? THE THREE CABINET CHALLENGE!

1/6/2018

Picture

Here is a little challenge for you today! If you're not at home set a reminder to do this when you get home- or find a product at work or at the store and scan it. Today's task is called the Three Cabinet Challenge, and here's how it works:
1. Download the Think Dirty App and/or the EWG Healthy Living App. They are both FREE in your app store!
2. Head to three of your cabinets (under your kitchen or bathroom sinks, your shower, and your laundry room are the best places.)
3. Start scanning! You just point the camera at the bar code. It couldn't be easier.
4. Share below about some of your most shocking discoveries after using the app. I’d love for you to share photos of some of the scans.
The higher the number, the more toxic ingredients in the product!!! For comparison, here are some products I found most shocking:
-Suave Dermatologist Tested Advanced Therapy skin lotion: rated 10 toxicity🤢
- Cetaphil: mostly rate 9-10 in toxicity, and are dermatologist recommended
- Aveeno Baby: mostly rate 9-10 in toxicity, and are also dermatologist recommended for babies😡
- Clorox Green Works Cleaner: rates a 9 in toxicity
Why is this a big deal? The toxins in these products can lead to hormone disruption, allergies, developmental and reproductive issues, cancer, and so much more. It's kind of a big deal.
A lot of people think that living a toxin-free lifestyle is expensive, and that's why they haven't made the switch yet. Or maybe people just get so overwhelmed in thinking they have to throw away their entire house!?
Would you believe me if I told you that it's actually often much less expensive to live the way we do? And that you can absolutely take baby steps in ridding your home of toxins? I worked through what I had and replaced with toxic free alternatives as I went. It is a process. I am so glad that I began this process a few months ago, I am still working on cleaning out my toxic products but I have not regretted even one product being gone!

Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub and Face Mask

10/24/2017

I’m all about keeping it simple, when it comes to DIY. To me it’s about using the best ingredients and having control over what I’m using, but if it’s too complicated I know myself and I won’t do it, so if you like keeping it real and keeping it easy, this is the place for you!

For a Spa Day Everyday in the Comfort of your own Home!
If the dry winter air has been wreaking havoc on your skin or you would like a natural way to combat breakouts, you have to give this a try!

Here is a list of what you’ll need to make this Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub and face mask.
  • Organic Cane Sugar – Sugar is a natural exfoliator, as well as a natural source of glycolic acid, which serves to even out skin tone, cleanse pores, and improves overall appearance by sloughing off dead skin cells.
  • Organic or Non-GMO, Cold Processed Extra Virgin Olive Oil –  (Did you know that the purest and best quality olives oil comes from California?) – Olive oil heals acne scarring, and is high in vitamin E which is soothing, moisturizing, and healing to the skin, as well as being high in antioxidants which prevents premature aging of the skin.
  • Raw Organic Honey – (I recommend using raw honey because it contains natural antibacterial properties, enzymes, and probiotics that are good for the skin.) – The antibacterial properties benefit acne prone skin by reducing breakouts. Honey is a natural humectant so it locks water into the skin keeping the complexion hydrated. Also, a natural source of antioxidants which aids the skin from premature aging.
  • One Organic Lemon – Lemon juice is incredibly beneficial to the skin. It helps to diminish scars and age spots, heal acne, exfoliate, and brighten your complexion.
  • Young Living Lemon Essential Oil – Is cold pressed from the lemon rind, it has a strong, purifying citrus scent which is revitalizing and uplifting. It does a good job of covering up the olive oil smell, which I’m not a big fan of. Don’t tell my italian relatives I said that ;). I chose this oil for more than its fragrance though. Young Living’s Lemon essential oil contains 68% d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant. Great for reducing wrinkles, minimizing sun and age spots, as well as combating acne. By combining this essential oil with the lemon juice you’re getting the benefits of the entire lemon.
  • An Airtight Glass Container

Instructions:
Add a 1/2 cup of Sugar to a glass bowl, pour in 1/4 cup olive oil, and mix with a fork. You can use more or less olive oil depending on the consistency you want. Add in a heaping TBSP of honey, half the juice of one lemon and mix well, again you can adjust how much honey and lemon juice you use, last add in 10 drops of lemon essential oil and mix. Then transfer to your airtight glass container! Voila, get ready for gorgeous luxurious feeling skin!!!

Storage and Use
Store in an airtight glass jar and keep out of direct sunlight. Keep in the bathroom cabinet and use a clean spoon to scoop out.
For the Face:
Add a scoop to your palm and apply in a circular motion careful not to use too much pressure, let the scrub do the work. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes for a deep pore cleaning. Then I just wash off with warm water and pat dry. I would recommend using this at night and no more than three times a week.
For the Body:
Just rub a small amount all over in circular motions, great for rough spots like your feet, elbows, knees, and cuticles. You can also use this as a base for shaving to achieve the smoothest shave ever! Rinse with warm water and bask in your glowing silky soft skin!

If you’re new to using essential oils and would like more information, I’m always happy to chat. PS, Lemon essential oil comes in the Premium Starter Kit, see below for more details on how you can save big and get started making the switch to a natural way of health and beauty!

Happy Oiling,

10 Ways to Dive into Your Young Living Premium Starter Kit

10/19/2017

Picture
I get it; I’ve been there.  When I ordered my first kit, I was totally clueless and spent hours asking questions and researching on the internet.  Don’t worry.  You’ve got this.  I’ll hold your hand friend.  And if something comes up that I don't know, we will figure it out together.  That is the great thing about Young Living and their support system.
Picture

1.  Diffuse your heart out

Hands down, one of the easiest ways to start using your Premium Starter Kit is by opening your new diffuser, adding some oils, and begin enjoying the smells and benefits immediately.   Seriously, diffuse even before you open the rest of your kit.  You’ll thank me.
FAVORITE DIFFUSER COMBOS:
Relax:  lavender + stress away
Fresh & Clean:  purification + lemon
Sleep Tight:  lavender + copia
Happy:  peppermint + frankincense
Sniffle Fighter:  r.c. + thieves
Seasonal:  peppermint + lemon + lavender
Perk Up:  lemon + peppermint
Immune Booster:  thieves + purification

2.  Use ’em in the kitchen

Picture
There are so many uses for oils in the kitchen.  For example, you can wash fruits and veggies in a sink bath of water, baking soda, and lemon vitality oil.  This helps to not only clean the produce, but also remove any waxy residue and pesticides that may be on them.

Lemon Vitality is extremely versatile in the kitchen.  Not only can you use it to flavor your water (make sure you drink out of glass or stainless steel cup and straw), but you can also cook and bake with it!   Lemon can also be used in homemade vinaigrette.

Peppermint vitality is another oil that holds its own in the kitchen.  Make Mint Chocolate Chip Brownies, mojitos in a pinch, and peppermint whipped cream.  It is also a nice addition to water, giving you a huge burst of energy and alertness.  Studies have also shown that drinking peppermint water before a workout increases endurance and intensity of your workout.  Bonus: mix peppermint essential oil in a carrier oil (almond or coconut oil) and massage it over your sore, achy muscles after your intense work out!

3.  Bathe in it

Picture
To make a detox bath, draw a hot bath, add 10 drops of essential oils to 1 cup epsom salts and 1 cup baking soda.  My favorite oil combos are lavender + stress away for relaxation (great for kid’s bath time!), lavender + peppermint during that time of the month help to provide a relaxing atmosphere and thieves + r.c. for when you’re just feeling like you need a little pick me up.

4.  Beauty DIYs

There are so many DIYs you can make with essential oils.  One of my favorite DIYs is a nighttime and daytime toner that my daughter introduced me to.    There are so many different combinations you can make and they make great gifts as well!  Another great DIY is a lavender spray.  Just mix lavender with a little water and witch hazel and you have a spray for just about anything.  Spray it around a room as an air freshener, on yours or your kid’s bed to promote a restful night sleep, or on  your skin when you have spent far too much time in the summer sun.  So many uses!
Picture

5.  Get healthy and stay healthy

Essential oils have so many health benefits it’s not even funny!  It can take some time to get used to understanding each of their properties and the best use of them.  However, two oils you need to know about are r.c. and digize.  R.C contains three different types of eucalyptus essential oils and helps to promote an uplifting atmosphere.  DiGize is another gem and helps it to support a healthy digestive system. It’s nice to keep with you at all times.  Throw it in your purse, you just never know when you’re going to need something like that.

6. Enjoy the great outdoors

Picture
I love the outdoors, I spend as much time as I can outside enjoying the sun, the crisp air and appreciating God's creation.  One thing I really dislike though is bugs... Check out some of the DIY oily blends you can put together to ward off those pesky bugs.

7.  Clean and freshen your home

This might be my most favorite part of my oily journey, I am working on eliminated all toxic cleaners from my home to clean with 100% with essential oils.  For a quick all purpose spray, fill a spray bottle 2/3 the way full of water and the rest of the way with vinegar, add 10 drops of essential oil.  Thieves, lemon, and purification are my favorite go to oils.  Plus, your house will smell amazing when you’re all done!
Picture

8.  Beautify your skin care

I have LOVED adding essential oils to my skin care routine!  It is one of the best things that I have done for myself.  Lemon, tea tree, lavender, frankincense are my favorites to use on my face.  Before I started making my own and buying Young Living products, I would add these to my skin care routine by mixing them with my face wash, toner, and lotion. Try something new,  wash your face how you normally would.  Then put a drop of frankincense on a cotton ball and swipe around like you would toner.  You’ll be both amazed and disgusted at how much dirt and make up it pulls off of your face even AFTER washing it!  Worth it’s weight in gold.
Picture

9.  Dive in and Learn

This is the best tip I can probably give anyone.  Just dive in and start learning all that you can about oils.  You will have abundant resources at your finger tips, however nothing can take the place of you learning about the oils for yourself.  I use an app on my phone for a quick reference, ask me how to get it.  I love that you can look up the uses of particular oils and look up different uses and figure out which oils to use.  I am constantly amazed at what these little bottles are capable of.

10.  Share the oily love

Trust me on this one.  Once you realize how amazing these oils are, you are going to want to share the love.  You can definitely stick these little packs in your purse, stash them at work, or throw them in your car and use them for yourself.  But honestly, it’s hard to keep it to yourself.  The best part is once you start sharing these babies, you can start having your oils paid for, because trust me, you’re going to want more oils for yourself!
Picture
Once you learn your way around your Premium Starter Kit and start learning about other oils, you will be itching to try something new.  I couldn’t live without the oils in my starter kit, I make sure I always have backups on hands, but they’re not the only ones I can’t live without!  Soon you’ll start to have yourself a nice little growing collection.
If you haven’t snagged your Premium Starter Kit yet, what are you waiting for??  I would love to help you out if you are ready to make this jump for your family’s health and wellness.  Check out all get with the Premium Starter Kit hookup!

A SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE REMEDY
FOR PET STAINS ON CARPETS

So, according to the website, you only need two products which most of us will have already.  Vinegar and Baking soda.  And again according to the website it is the order in which you use these products that makes the difference.

Step 1:    Pour vinegar to soak the stain
Step 2:    Add a small amount of baking soda on top of the area
Step 3:   Let the spot dry for a day or two before cleaning up, sweep it up then just vacuum.

They claim that you will actually see the yellow color being absorbed and pulled up in to the baking soda, proving that it is removing the stain.  And they claim that it works on OLD STAINS ALSO, that is a huge plus.
Picture
I forgot to mention, it is also suggested that while the spot is drying, you do not walk on it, just cover with something, in this case showing a plate, until the area is dry.

Dishwasher Tabs - DIY

10/19/2017

In days like today when kids think that everything has to be shiny new and convenience is the only option when making decisions, it is wonderful to experience your children and grandchildren embracing a lifestyle that is natural and economical and learning how to be self sufficient using materials that are readily available to us.

Dishwasher Tabs
2 cups washing soda
1 cup baking soda
1 cup citric acid
½ cup kosher salt
½ cup plus 2 tbsp white distilled vinegar
1 tsp Dr. Bonner’s Castile Soap
15-20 drops Lemon or Citrus Fresh essential oil

1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.\
2. Add vinegar a little bit at a time and mix well. (Some fizzing will occur and the mixture will start to clump).
**Adding the vinegar slowly is super important. If you add too fast it will fizz too much and will continue expanding making it impossible for the tabs to set. You may not need the entire amount of vinegar either. Mine took only ½ cup.
3. Mix in Castile soap and essential oil until well combined.
4. Pack mixture into silicone ice cube trays. Be sure to really compact the mixture into the tray for a good firm tab. You can use regular plastic ones but they are harder to get out when they dry.
5. Set ice cube trays out of reach of children for 24 hours.
6. Take tabs out of trays and you’re ready to go. I put my tabs in an old cleaned out detergent pod container.

This batch made 42 tabs – 18 smaller tabs (silicone trays from Ikea) and 24 larger tabs (2 regular ice cube trays) and it cost approximately $0.13 a tab. The larger tabs could actually be cut in half so that would make it a whopping $0.09 a tab!

Next time I’m definitely getting more silicone trays and I will use Lemon instead of Citrus Fresh. I think Lemon has more action power!

Word of caution - the citric acid may cause a little skin discomfort so I would suggest using gloves if you're going to use your hands to mix.

Doing the right thing-

6/24/2017

Picture
I am not exactly sure how this concept of doing the right thing got twisted around into I am a bad person if I choose to take care of myself emotionally and physically.

I was having a conversation with someone earlier today and we were discussing how some people, generally women but definitely men are also included, have this misconception that even if they are being treated poorly they must always do the right thing.  This is true to some degree, you really should be the bigger person and do the right thing, however, sometimes that means that we need to draw a line in the sand and protect our own, individually or collectively.

It took me a long and mostly unhappy relationship to figure this out.  Being a good person and doing the right things are commendable character traits there is no doubt about that, but who said that we have to be mistreated in order to be 'doing the right thing'.  We have a right as human beings, a God given right to be valued as individual gifts to this world.  We all have something to give and there is no reason that you should continue to 'do the right thing' when someone is abusing you, emotionally, physically or otherwise.

I am certainly open to conversation about this topic, and I am definitely not saying that we immediately give up on others who mistreat us once, twice or sometimes even three or more times.  What I am saying is that we need to evaluate how the mistreatment from the other party is affecting our lives overall.  Is it a positive something I am going to grow and learn from, does this person truly not understand, does this person need professional help, do you see this person changing their behaviors?  All questions that should be considered and I am certain if I were to outline this topic I could come up with at least 20-30 more evaluation type questions.

When someone sucks the life out of you with their drama and their mistreatment and you feel icky when you see a text or a phone call coming in, if your first reaction is 'oh geez, what now' please, I implore you.... STOP.  Think and evaluate that relationship honestly.

Be true to yourself, realize your worth, find your happiness and live life to the fullest.  Life is just too short to put up with the bullshit and the drama.

If you have found this little thought to be helpful or thought provoking, I would love to hear from you.  Please comment below and let's expand this conversation.
